As the 2008-2009 season draws to a close, UT Paintball marks yet another successful year both on and off the field. The team finished with a record of 8-3 and took 5th place at Nationals in Lakeland, FL. Not only was the team quite successful on the national competitive circuit, but also locally as well. Along with the help of local sponsors, UT Paintball was able to help raise over $3,500 for charities in and around Knoxville. The charity event dubbed, “PaintBlast 2009″ drew over 200 people and over 20 teams thanks to sponsors like Players Club Paintball, and RedBull. With finals coming to a close and players enjoying a long summer, UT is looks forward to next season. The club anticipates even more growth and more activities for the Fall of 2009. Interest meetings will be in late August, or early September. Please continue to check the website for information and updates on club activities, standings, and developments.

The National Collegiate Paintball Association will be adding a new conference to the Class A division for the 2008-2009 season. It will consist of:

• University of Tennessee
• Ohio University
• Liberty University
• West Virginia University
• Virginia Tech University
• Eastern Kentucky University

The creation of this conference marks a milestone in both University of Tennessee and NCPA evolution. UT will now compete in 3 regular season Class A events, and Nationals. The dates and locations of these regular season events will be released soon.

PaintBlast 2008 was a huge success!  Alpha Chi Omega and the UT Paintball hosted the 1st Annual PaintBlast charity tournament. 

With the help of the sorority and fraternity competitors, we raised a rough estimate of $1600 for the Wesley House Community Center.

A huge thanks goes out to RedBull, Knoxville Paintball Sports, and Alpha Chi Omega!  See you next year!

A TV spot done by the UTTV program called “It’s All About the Orange.”

The Paintball Club at UT hosted the 2nd annual NCPA Class AA Tennessee Open this past saturday at Insane Paintball in Chattanooga, TN.

16 Teams made the trek for the 2nd SE region event of the season. This event had great facilities using 2 indoor fields and quality reffing and paint. A full service proshop was available to all players. Each Team played 8 prelim games before the top 8 went to the semis.

2 Tennessee teams played in this event. UT Orange consisting of Daniel Keene, Matt Jenkins, Chris Anglin, Joey Baggott, Anthony Sander, JR Tubb, and Matt San Roman. UT Black was made up with Rob Goldsmith, Tyler Thayer, Mike Gilante, Colby Jarrett, Alex Ladoucer, Jeremy Coleman, and Fred Pickney. UT Orange finished the prelims with an impressive 6-2 record while UT black missed the cut by going 4-4. UT Orange got a #3 seed going into the semi’s while UT Black finished the tournament in 10th.

UT Orange really picked up the pace in the semi’s beating everyone in their bracket. They beat Clemson Orange , Northern Kentucky, and Florida State to go 3-0 with a #1 seed into the final 4. From there they kept the ball rolling beating ERAU, Virginia Tech, and Clemson for another 3-0 and the First place trophy. All team members played great.

UT would like to thank all the teams for coming to the event as well as Smart Parts, Paintball Paparazzi, KPS, and Insane Paintball for their continued support of the UT Paintvols in thier quest for a 2007-08 NCPA National Championship!

PUT’s First Semesterly BSG is now up for registration.  The event will be titled “Battle of the Bulge” and it will be played at PlayPaintball.

If you are a Rec Member, this game is covered, all you have to do is register, and in the comments field state that you are a Rec Member.

If you are not, the price will be under $30, but it is yet to be deteremined.  Go ahead and register though, you do not have to pay at this time. This pricing is availible to anyone with a UTID.

If you are member of the public, this event is also open to you!  Pricing will be determined by the field, but we will let you know also.  You can register on our website and just put “Public” in the UT NetID field.
