2010 SEC-1 Tournament recap

The start of a new season brought new challenges when the Vols took on conference rival Virginia Tech. The Vols jumped to an early 3-point lead, only to have that lead closed as 2 minutes approached in the second half.  In the closing minutes, UT was able to slow the play-tempo and score 2 points, while working the game clock down to 00:00.

Final Score:  UT- 8  VT- 6

Match 2 saw the Vols taking on SEC conference newcomers Kennesaw State. The opening 4 points were heavily contested as both teams took an aggressive approach early. The pace would stay aggressive throughout the match, but UT would end up dictating the pace as they began to pull away and maintain a healthy lead

Final Score: UT- 9  KSU-2

Continuing from a very competitive rivalry over the last two years, the Vols and the Liberty Flames headlined the final match of the day. The two teams traded quick and heavily contested points in the first half, but liberty was able to pull ahead up 1 point at halftime. The second half saw more action, but the Vols fell short for 3 straight points to fall to 2-1 on the season.

Final Score: UT- 4   LU-6

On a final note, the team would like to extent our sincerest thanks to Liberty for another great tournament this year! Keep coming to utpb.com and we’ll see you at our next tournament on November 6th!
